For some, “normal” parts of childhood that help kids flourish aren’t accessible.
Through Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fredericton and Oromocto’s Matching Program, Rosalee was paired with Kelly, whose own life had been changed years ago by the same program (funded by the United Way). It quickly became apparent that Rosalee was eager to try new things, transforming her shyness to happily shaking hands and saying, “Nice to meet you!” Her personality flourished, and Kelly was always in stitches with her “little sister” around.
Rosalee learned how to swim, tried dozens of new foods, ventured to Science East and Kingswood Entertainment Centre, plus plenty of parks and restaurants. Rosalee and Kelly spend hours reading, baking, and having great conversations. Rosalee has also become cherished by Kelly’s relatives. Rosalee has brought so much love into Kelly’s life. Because of Kelly, Rosalee has had opportunity after opportunity for growth and development.
