YMCA – An Update on Recent Century Club Speakers

Erin Maston

Fleeing from a damaging relationship, Erin was forced to go on welfare to care for her two young children. But then Erin discovered the YMCA LearnSave Program and got the support to put her life back on track. Now as a university graduate of social work, it's clear; doors are opening all around her. Erin was the 2004 National Saving For School Award Winner and recently spoke at a conference in Toronto.

Don Neate

Don was a speaker two years ago at our luncheon and shared the impact that the YMCA had on his lifestyle. As a severe diabetic, Don discovered that daily exercise allowed him to manage his illness. Since the luncheon, Don has received his fitness leadership certification and now volunteers in the Wellness Centre providing valuable advice and support to those who are just getting started.

Marisa Roias

Having fled her country and at risk of death, Marisa moved to Fredericton with her two sons to claim refugee status. While learning English and supporting her two children in the difficult transition, Marisa found comfort and release by swimming daily at the YMCA. Marisa has seized opportunities and has recently opened her own company which is located at the new Charlotte St. Arts Centre.
