What We Do!

What Is It That We Do?

United Way/Centraide of Central N.B. is an incorporated non-profit charitable organization focused on supporting the healthy development of our community. In addition to running an annual fundraising campaign to support a vital network of human service programs, we work in collaboration with people from political, corporate, labour and social service sectors to create capacity within the communities we serve, and to create community impact.

Leading community members participate on our volunteer Board of Directors and guide our policy making. The Board shapes our strategic vision as well as plans and monitors operational performance.

Our Campaign Cabinet is the heart and soul of our annual fundraising campaign. These business and community leaders meet with their business colleagues within their respective sectors to encourage the participation of their organization in the United Way campaign.

To ensure funds are distributed in a fair and equitable manner, each year volunteers, who make up our Admissions and Allocations Committee, review applications and participate in face to face meetings with the senior staff and board members from the agencies. They contribute more than 80 volunteer hours annually reviewing submissions and making funding recommendations. This is an essential role to ensure that the community’s dollars, which are invested in United Way/Centraide, are being managed well and creating significant impact on our communities.

Do you have any interest in joining our Board or Directors or representing your sector on our Campaign Cabinet? If so, please contact us for more information on how you can get involved. Call Jeff Richardson at 459-7773 x202 for Board inquiries and Anne Foster at 459-7773 x201 for Campaign Cabinet inquiries.
